Our Story
Nearing the 20 year mark of providing care management software solutions, Essette upended the traditional health care software market with a fresh, client-focused approach. Essette’s first ever healthcare client (long before the Essette name was incorporated) was earned through software designers sitting down side-by-side with nurses at a health plan, designing care management software screen by screen to the users’ preferences.
Following official incorporation as Essette, Inc. in 2011 (the care management product name transitioning to company name), Essette continued to usurp the bloated, high-dollar software vendors in the payer market space with a combination of a highly skilled team, client-centric, customizable software tools, and small company prices and timelines. Essette built upwards of a 40+ strong customer roster with very little marketing, relying heavily on the unique asset of a 100% reference-able client base.
In 2016, seeking investment and a strong corporate partner, Essette was acquired by HMS, enabling the company to expand and continue delivering industry-best care management (and now population health management) software. Now constituting a full suite of medical management tools, with a host of available partner integrations, a templatized and stable software platform, HMS-Essette went on to win two consecutive Best in KLAS awards in 2019 and 2020.
In 2021, the acquisition of HMS by a combination of the separate Cotiviti and Gainwell corporations led to the Essette product division moving to the new Gainwell ownership. With the acquisition by Gainwell Technologies, we hope to continue to improve the application to be the industry leader in the private/government payer sector. Today a large portion of the original pre-HMS Essette team is still supporting the same great Essette customer family- currently working towards updating all clients to an innovative, modern, and powerful codebase for 2021 and beyond.
